Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar has said that the local level elections in Province 2 can be held in the third phase.
Speaking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport on Sunday, DPM Gachhadhar said it is now clear that the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal is not willing to take part the phase II of the local elections slated for June 28 despite the government's efforts to bring them onboard for local elections by amending the Registration of Political Parties Act that would allow them to choose an election symbol from the Election Commission.
However, Minister Gachhdhar said that the government is not in favour of postponing the slated local polls' date.
Likewise, DPM Gachhadhar said that the government is ready for political commitment regarding constitution amendment. He further said there is no need to doubt on the matter of statue amendment after the polls.
