The RJP-N has been demanding the government to address its demands including an amendment to the constitution, releasing their cadres detained or are facing charges in connection with the Madhes and Tharuhat movements, and increasing the number of local units in Tarai districts.
However, the governing coalition has been urging the agitating parties to take part in the level elections assuring to amend the constitution to meet their demands.
